Back in December, nearly nine months ago I watched in amazement as Alex Schaff looped and harmonized his way through a tiny show at Bowery Electric. There was at most ten people in the audience, but I knew then that this wouldn’t be the last time I heard from Yellow Ostrich.
Since then the band, which was originally just Schaaf has officially added two other members, opened for Beirut at North Side Festival, signed to Barsuk Records, re-released The Mistress; a EP that I am still listening to regularly and released the Fade Cave EP . Congrats to Alex for making it all happen. I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

I just received an email from one of my hipper, more in-the-know buddies here in beautiful Washington DC alerting me to the new project David Byrne has been working on with Fatboy Slim - reportedly entitled Here Lies Love.
The full package will be released February 23, but in the meantime I was able to get my claws on one of the songs - “Please Don’t,” sung by Santigold. If the rest of the album is as good as this track, we’ll all be having a great Feb 23.I know you’re all busy voting for Scott Brown in the MA Senate election but why don’t you take minute, listen to this and then not go vote for Scott Brown because you realize the folly of your ways.
